Port Waikato Pied Shags

Roosting Pied Shag

Finally got to test the new 500mm lens on a subject other than rugby players when returning from taking photos at the Counties Manukau Steelers training Camp held at Port Waikato recently. The road  from the Port follows along the bank of the Waikato river and gave me several opportunities to stop and take photos of the many Pied Shags that inhabit the area, especially where they roost on logs drying their feathers after fishing.
