58 Years of waiting comes to an end

After 58 years the Ranfurly Shield finally comes the Counties Manukau Rugby Union.

The Steelers made lots of people very proud when they lifted “The old log of wood” off Hawkes Bay in the ITM Cup Rugby game in Napier on Saturday September 7th with their 27 – 24 victory.

Counties Manukau Steelers Captain Fritz Lee holds the Ranfurly Shield aloft as team mates join the celebrations.
ITM Cup and Ranfurly Shield rugby game between Hawke’s Bay Magpies and Counties Manukau Steelers, played at McLean Park Napier on September 7th 2013. Counties Manukau won the game 27 – 24 after trailing 16 – 14 at halftime. With the win Counties Manukau claimed the Ranfurly Shield for the first time in the Union history.
