Richard Spranger FPSNZComing from a rural background I have always had an affinity for the beauty of nature. My interest in capturing the great New Zealand pictures was kindled while still at high school, when I took up photography in an effort to share some of the wonderful sights that I was wittnessing on my travels associated with an interest in ornithology.
Needless to say, the photography became a passion and after initially experimenting with most styles and subjects, I narrowed my focus to three main areas of coverage – landscapes, wildlife and sports photography.
The passion has now become a profession with my images being used both nationally and internationally for calendars, cards and advertising, as well being sold locally.
Most of my time is now spent photographing sports teams and sports action within the Franklin area, south of Auckland City, and during the winter sports season many of my action photos from club and NPC games grace the pages of local papers.
When time allows and needing a change of pace there is nothing better than heading for the hills to try and capture memorable New Zealand landscape and wildlife images of this wonderfully diverse country that I am very fortunate to live in.
